Glass rods consisting of layers of different colors, with a typical concentric pattern, used to be known as rosettes and are now called murrine. When these rods are cut into small pieces, they are called millefiori, which means a thousand flowers. Millefiori have been produced for centuries in Venice, the home of Effetre.
The technique currently used at Effetre MURANO SRL to make murrine dates back to the nineteenth century, when Vincenzo Moretti rediscovered the method of murrine. This is why Effetre Murano’s products are also known as moretti.
