NS-064 Lava is an opaque bright orange. It is well suited for stringers and blown work. It is not very sensitive to flame chemistry, but it is still best to avoid over-reducing flames. However, lava is heat sensitive, so it must be worked carefully to avoid boiling, although it has less tendency to boil than, say, Asian boro. Encasing with transparent is another method of masking the color, but not necessary.

These rods are 5-8 mm in diameter and 40-50 cm long. The weight fluctuates around 40 grams.
Rods without a size label have a standard weight, length and thickness. Rods with size label L are heavier and can be either longer or thicker. Bars size label S weigh slightly lighter and may be shorter or thinner.
