De annealing bestaat uit drie fasen:
1. Opwarming
2. Het op temperatuur blijven (annealen) aan de bovenste annealingtemperatuur om de spanning te verlagen.
3. Temperatuurdaling van de bovengrens naar de ondergrens van de annealingtemperatuur en vandaar naar de uiteindelijke omgevingstemperatuur.
